Publish in a newspaper

Jimmy Lee Selman Sr., age 71, of Rome, Georgia, sadly passed away on September 11, 2025, at a local hospital.

Jimmy was born in Floyd County on March 20, 1954, and was the son of the late Johnny Oliver Selman and Amy Ruth Carter Selman. He was also preceded in death by his son, Derek Franklin Selman, and the mother of his children, Frankie Laverne Selman.

Survivors include his wife, Ava Yvonne Selman (formerly Casey); his children, Jimmy Lee Selman Jr., Jimmy Floyd Selman (Tiffany), Johnny Eric Selman (Sherona), Tonya Selman Jones (Jason), Timothy Michael Brown (April), and Chelsey Selman Elam (Derek); his step-sons, Eric Lee Pop & Kenneth Jason Pope; his brother, Johnny Edward Selman (Barbara); as well as 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and numerous beloved extended family members.

Jimmy will be remembered as a man who lived life with laughter, love, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of the world around him. He absolutely loved the mountains and found peace outdoors, especially when fishing. A devoted and hardworking man, Jimmy spent over 40 years as a truck driver, taking great pride in his truck and his work. His dedication was matched only by his sense of humor. Jimmy loved to laugh and was always quick to tease and pick on others in a lighthearted way that brought smiles to everyone around him. His playful spirit and great sense of humor made him unforgettable. Family was the center of Jimmy's life. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren unconditionally and cherished every moment spent with them. Though he liked to think of himself as the boss of everyone, he did so in the sweetest and funniest way, keeping those close to him both smiling and feeling loved. Jimmy's legacy will live on in the laughter he shared, the stories he told, and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him.

A funeral service will be held for Jimmy on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel with Pastor Derek Hall officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Dillon Brown, Corey Brown, Danny Thacker, Johnny Eric Selman, Jimmy Floyd Selman, and Tim Brown. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Johnny Edward Selman, Reese Ellis, Johnny Stone, and Scotty Hicks. Interment will follow the service at Floyd Memory Gardens in Rome, Ga.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, from 12:00 P.M. until service time.

The family invites attendees to meet them after the graveside service for a gathering to share memories and a meal at Northwood Baptist Church.
