Jimmy Ray Smith was born on January 4, 1968 in the Philippines at Clark Air Force Base to the late SSGT Leroy Smith & Ella Bell Smith. He grew up in West Point, Mississippi. He gave his life to Christ at an early age and was a member of the Lower Prairie Creek MB Church. He attended and graduated from West Point High School in 1986. While in school, Jimmy played many sports such as football and baseball; baseball was his favorite.
After High School graduation, Jimmy enlisted in the United States Air Force, and worked as a printer of classified information. After his military career ended, he moved to Washington, DC where he worked for the US Govt. Dept. of Printing. He remained there for several years before moving to Nashville, Tennessee where he worked as a printer for the USA Today newspaper. It was in Nashville where he met the love of his life, Aquanetta Jackson. They were married in December 2010. After several years in Nashville, Jimmy and Aquanetta relocated to Huntsville, Alabama, where they became active and beloved members of Redemptive Life Church.
Jimmy has traveled all over the world. He was a great husband to Aquanetta and a wonderful father to his two sons, Jimmy A. Smith and Devon Smith. He was also a caring brother to his siblings, Raymond, Carolyn, and Kenneth. Jimmy loved his wife and family, and continued to live life to the fullest until God decided his earthly journey was complete.
Jimmy leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Aquanetta Smith; his son, Jimmy A. Smith of Brooklyn, NY; his son, Devon Smith of Columbia, TN; brother, Raymond Smith of Nashville, TN; sister, Carolyn Onyeme of Nashville, TN; brother Kenneth Smith of Washington, DC; father-in-law & mother-in-law, Joe & Ella Torian; brother-in-law, sister-in-law; his 3 aunts and uncle of St. Louis, MO and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his father and mother, Leroy and Ella Smith.
