ANNETTE'S LIFE STORY: Annette Oats Smith was born on October 23, 1958 in Perry County, Alabama to the late Taylor and Willie Mae Underwood Oats. Annette was one of eight children, growing up in lively and close-knit family in Brent, Alabama Annette graduated from Bibb County High School where she excelled in basketball, softball and volleyball. She later served
proudly in the National Guard, carrying strength and determination into every area of her life. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Dewain Edward Smith; her father and mother,
Taylor and Willie Mae Underwood Oats; her siblings, Taylor Oats and Pattie Brown; her love, strength and laughter, will forever remain in the hearts of ones that loved her.
Annette leaves to cherish her precious memories: her siblings, Johnny Underwood, Lucy Pickett, Millie Dukes and Janice Oats and A.C. Oats she was the proud mother of four daughters,
Ayanna Rice, LaShanda (Keith) Smith, Delecia (Sadra) Steele and Ashley Bankhead (Brishard) Wilkins, she shared a deeply special bond with her eldest, who she affectionately called "Her
Mama Keeper"; her greatest joy, her eight grandchildren, Shamgrion, Massiah, KaMairrha, NijAsia, Zuri, Skyye, Korbia and Zyla. Annette was a funny, beautiful, strong, hard working and fiercely protective of her family.
