Noah Ervin Poe

In Loving Memory of Noah Ervin Poe December 24, 1929 – June 24, 2005
Noah Ervin Poe, age 95 of Prattville, Alabama, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of honor, service, and love that will be cherished by all who knew him.
Born on Christmas Eve, 1929, in his parents' home in Centerville, Alabama, Noah was the beloved son of Noah Burford Poe and Ollie Poe, both of whom preceded him in death. One of eight children, he is survived by his brother Robert Poe, and joins in eternal rest his siblings James Wesltley Poe, Edgar Allen Poe, Steve Poe, Roy Poe, Sarah Poe Baker, Eula Mae Poe Fuller, and Mary Ruth Poe Maze.
Noah graduated from Bibb County High School and shortly after, at the age of 17, answered the call to serve his country. He first joined the Navy Reserves before enlisting in the United States Air Force, where he proudly served for 33 years. A veteran of the Korean War, his distinguished military career took him across the world to bases in Missouri, Bermuda, Albany (Georgia), Montgomery (Alabama), Nome (Alaska), Fairbanks (Alaska), Anchorage (Alaska), and Murfreesboro (Tennessee). He retired as a Chief Master Sergeant, one of the highest non-commissioned ranks in the Air Force.
After retiring from active duty, Noah continued his service to the military community through civil service, working for another 16 years as the Director of Operations over 21 military commissaries. His leadership, integrity, and dedication left a lasting mark on all who served alongside him.
On April 18, 1954, Noah married the love of his life, Frances Carolyn Fuller Poe, at First Baptist Church in Columbus, Mississippi, beginning a partnership that would span 71 years. He was a devoted husband, a loving father to three sons-James (deceased), Ron Poe (Wanda), and John Poe (Lisa)-and a proud grandfather to Noah, Jarid, Jesse, and Hunter Poe. He was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
Noah was a man of quiet strength, unwavering faith, and deep love for his family and country. Whether in uniform or at home, he carried himself with humility, dignity, and a gentle sense of humor. His life was a living example of service, sacrifice, and steadfast devotion.
A service celebrating Noah's life will be held at Pine Flat Baptist Church near Selma, Alabama on June 28, 2025. Visitation 11-12:00, with the service starting at 12:00 PM. He will be laid to rest at Pine Flat Baptist Church Cemetery immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Pine Flat Baptist Church.
