Jimmy Wayne Sutton, 68, of Midland, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on July 15, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous battle with numerous health challenges.
Jimmy was born on November 29, 1956, in Midland, Texas, to Roy Sutton and Opal Lee Easley. He remained a proud son of Midland throughout his life. On August 24, 1990, he married the love of his life, Carolyn Sue Sutton. Jimmy adored, cherished, and deeply loved Carolyn-his devotion to her was unwavering and beyond words.
A true fisher of men, Jimmy had a heart for sharing the love of Jesus with everyone he met. His faith was the cornerstone of his life, and his passion for music became a powerful expression of that faith. From childhood, he played music with his family and later led his own bands. After giving his life to the Lord, Jimmy dedicated his musical gifts to serving in churches, touching countless lives through song. He sang and played with strength, joy, and a heart full of love until his final days.
Jimmy's greatest joy came from his family. He is survived by his children: sons Chester Wayne Sutton and Jimmy Wayne Sutton Jr.; daughters Robyn, and Shannon Snodgrass and her husband Charles Snodgrass II. He was a proud grandfather to Sarah Eckstein, Charlie, Elizabeth, and Kassidy Snodgrass, Addie, DelRay, and Skyler Sutton, and Tandy Sutton. He was also blessed with a great-grandson, Allen Wayne Snodgrass.
Jimmy is also survived by his beloved sisters: Patricia (Pat) Hicks, Eyvonne Massey, Kay Taylor, Donna Friday, and Christine Schmidt; and by many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his siblings: Joyce Campbell, Joann Campbell, Bill Sutton, Burlene Sutton, Chester Sutton, Winifred Sutton, and Jay Sutton.
Jimmy's legacy is one of faith, music, and unconditional love. He touched lives with every note he played and every soul he reached with his testimony. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
