Jimmy Roosevelt Taylor

CASTALIA – Jimmy Roosevelt Taylor, age 76, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2024. Born in Nash County, NC on March 13, 1948, he was the son of the late Theodore Roosevelt Taylor and Lola Mae Bunn Taylor. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Sandra Shearin.
Jimmy loved to work, he never stopped. He was always up early headed to Oak Level Cafe and was found reading his newspaper. He retired from Watson Electrical, then taught electrical trades at Northern Nash High school in Rocky Mount, NC for over 20 years, remembering every student. In his free time, Jimmy could be found working in his garden. He loved Nascar and was a Bill Elliot and Kasey Kahne fan. Jimmy was also a die-hard Tar Heels fan. Most of all, Jimmy loved his family and cherished the time spent with them. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Jimmy is survived by his son, Scott Taylor (Jessica), of Castalia, NC; his daughter, Beth Madigan (David), of Greenville, NC; his grandchildren, Caroline Madigan, Claire Madigan, Carly Madigan, and Carson Madigan; his sisters, Carolyn Barefoot, and Gail Shearin; his brother, Allen Bunn (Jean); and a host of many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be private.
