Jimmye Merle Johnson Ransburgh, age 85, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026. Jimmye was born on December 12, 1940, in Campti, Louisiana to Muriel Sherman and Dell McLain Johnson. She grew up in Campti around many cousins and friends. After a brief stint at Northwestern College, she began working at First National Bank in Mobile, Alabama where she caught the eye of a young engineer named John. They were married September 1, 1962, at Dauphin Way Baptist Church and moved to Huntsville shortly after. John and Jimmye were blessed with four children and 10 grandchildren.
Jimmye was first and foremost a mother to her children and was present in every facet of their lives. She worked at Parisian in Parkway City Mall for over 20 years where she was a fixture in the Men's Sportswear Department. She was a very active member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she was involved in the Altar Guild, Dove UMW Circle and many other facets of church life. Jimmye was also a member of DuMidi women's group. She was an avid cook who brought Louisiana cuisine to her home and friends on a regular basis. She made world famous Louisiana meat pies and pralines. Late in life she developed a love of Bingo. She was a poet and could find the harmony note in any song. She loved with her whole heart and would do anything for those that she loved.
Jimmye was preceded in death by her parents and husband, John Lawson Ransburgh Jr. She is survived by her four children, John Ransburgh and wife, Lisa, Rhonda Gierow and husband, Paul, Deidra Ransburgh, and Amanda Lowe and husband, Larry; as well as her 10 grandchildren, Armin Gierow, Anna Gierow, Gianna Grace Hudson, Claire Lowe, Lawson Ransburgh, Daisy Hudson, Nathaniel Hudson, Zane Ransburgh, Joshua Lowe and Claudia Lowe.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11 at Trinity United Methodist Church. A Celebration of Life will follow at 1 p.m., with a graveside service afterwards at Maple Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial gifts be sent to Trinity UMC Building Fund or Clearview Cancer Institute Russel Hill Cancer Foundation.
Jimmye leaves behind a legacy of love of family, a spirit of hospitality, and dignity in all things. She was very loved and will be dearly missed.
