Jo-Ann Dorn
1956 - 2025
Jo-Ann Dorn, 69, of Manchester, entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 26, 2025, with her loving husband William A. Dorn by her side. She was born on May 13, 1956, to Alphonse and Helen (Petrofsky) Valeski in Middletown, CT.
Raised in Cromwell, she attended Mercy High School in Middletown, received a bachelor's degree in social work from Southern CT State University and a master's from the University of CT school of Social Work. She was a Licensed Master Social Worker with a 44-year career as a Social Services Administrator in the towns of Manchester, Glastonbury, and East Hartford. Jo-Ann enjoyed traveling around the country and world with her husband. She was active in Town committees, church, union, the Senior Center and enjoyed exercising and walking in her neighborhood. At home she was an excellent cook and was very organized. Her friendly nature and sharp wit will be sorely missed by family and friends.
She leaves behind her husband Bill, and their children Selena Skelly-Dorn and husband Sergio Ledezma, Livia Roustan and husband Paul Roustan; and four grandchildren, Naomi, Fiona, Luna and Leo; as well as her brother-in-law Timothy Dorn and his wife Laurie, and brother-in-law Christopher Dorn and his wife Eileen.
A memorial service will be held at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St. in Manchester on Sunday, June 1, 2025. The calling hours will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. with a funeral home service to follow at 12 p.m. The burial will take place privately and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jo-Ann's memory to MACC Charities, P.O. Box 3804, Manchester, CT 06045-3804 or World Central Kitchen, Inc., P.O. Box 96538, Washington, DC 20090. For online condolences, please visit www.tierneyfuneralhome.com.
