A "Celebration of Life Memorial Service" for Jo Beth Thomas Cooper, 84, will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana

Jo was born on March 13, 1941 to George Oliver Thomas and Agnes Marie Crosby Thomas in Ringgold, Louisiana and passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2025 in Shreveport.

Jo was a teacher for over 20 years at Curtis Elementary. She taught gifted students and art. She was passionate about teaching the gifted. She was a talented mixed-media artist that was active in the Shreveport Art Club for many years.

Jo is preceded in death by her parents, George and Agnes Thomas; and her brother, Richard Thomas. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Sheldon Cooper; daughter, Jennifer Cooper Steidley and husband, James Eric Steidley of Englewood, Colorado; grandson, Emmett Louis Steidley; sisters, Ann Evans and husband, Ron Evans, Linda Ward and husband, Bob Ward; brother, Oliver "Bud" Thomas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Willis-Knighton Hospice. The family is asking that people donate to the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association (CMTAUSA.org) in lieu of flowers.

Jo will be greatly missed, but we will always love her and cherish the years we had together.
