Jo Headrick Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Abbey Funeral Home and Tallahassee Memory Gardens - Tallahassee on Nov. 11, 2024.
Jo Ann Headrick was ushered peacefully into the presence of Jesus, her Lord and Savior, on November 7, 2024, at the age of 81.
She was born on September 25, 1943, to John and Evie Hobbs in Pavo, Georgia. Her father, John, was a gospel minister, church planter, and carpenter.
She graduated from Brooks County High School in 1961. While in school, she enjoyed playing basketball, swimming, and singing. She was also a member of a women's vocal trio.
Jo Ann began playing piano at an early age and was only 13 when she first played in church. A gifted pianist, she could play beautifully by sight or by ear.
She met and married Denton Headrick, a Baptist preacher, in 1962. Her father, John Hobbs, performed the ceremony. They have three children and celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on February 2, 2024.
Jo Ann played piano and sang, often with her children, in various churches throughout her husband's ministry.
During the 1970's, she worked at Tallahassee Christian School teaching music, playing piano for chapel and school plays, and performing office duties as a secretary. She was an excellent typist as well as a seamstress, making and mending much of her young children's clothing.
During the 1980's, she was the secretary and bookkeeper for her husband's office machines business.
Jo Ann was known as a faithful wife, loving mother, and a gracious lady to all. A dedicated homemaker, she was a wonderful cook who prepared daily meals for her family for many years. One of her greatest sources of happiness was her family and spending time with them.
She is currently celebrating the joys of Heaven with her father, John Hobbs, her mother, Evie Hobbs, and her brother, Eugene Hobbs.
She is lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her husband of 62 years, Denton Headrick; children, Renee (Carl) Pritchett, Darren (Karen) Headrick, and Angela Andrews; grandchildren, Randall Pritchett, Marie (Ben) Harvey, and Luke Andrews.
