Jo A. (Murphy) Klock, 86, passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at Alpine Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, surrounded by family and beautiful Christmas carols.
Jo was born on February 28, 1939, in
Watertown, NY, the daughter of the late John B. and Blanche (LaRue) Murphy. She attended school in
Alexandria Bay, NY, and graduated from Elkins High School,
Elkins, WV. She worked as a New York Telephone Company operator for years and later returned to school, receiving her nursing degree. She worked at the Presbyterian Home and St. Luke's Memorial Hospital,
New Hartford, NY, where she met and later married the late Raymond H. Klock on June 21, 1986.
Jo was a member of the Herkimer Reformed Church. Music was her passion; she loved singing and playing the piano. She sang with her church choirs and various groups over the years, but she especially enjoyed singing with the Skylarks in
Sacramento, CA, and the Valley Voices for Christ in
Utica, NY. Jo was an avid reader and was gifted with almost anything artistic - she could draw, paint, cross-stitch, knit beautiful blankets, and make baby clothes - even sewed clothes for her girls when they were young. Later in life, she became interested in genealogy and developed a skill for researching (we called it stalking) and finding old family members, spending hours on the computer and visiting libraries and local records offices. Jo loved to attend her grandchildren's high school and college sporting events, yelling and cheering the whole time! Her favorite place, Alexandria Bay, was always considered "up home," "the Bay," or "the River." Many weekends and trips were spent at the River, visiting all her old haunts and talking about all her special memories there.
Jo was predeceased by her parents, John and Blanche; her husband, Ray; her brother, Rodney Murphy; her son-in-law, Patrick "Toot" Reardon; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is survived by her daughter, Jodi (David) Hallenbeck; daughter, Lisa Reardon; son, Timothy (Dawn) Klock; daughter, Linda Klock; grandchildren, Shelby (Jason) Campione, Sara (Kaitlyn Cameron) Reardon, Patrick Reardon, Nicole Klock, Martin Klock; great-grandchildren Jase and Jameson; sister-in-law, Charlotte Johnson; several very special cousins and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on January 14, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Herkimer Reformed Church, 102 Church Street,
Herkimer, NY 13350. Burial will take place in the Spring at Mountain View Memorial Gardens,
Little Falls, NY.
