Jo Sybil McGuire, age 83, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026.
She was born on September 9, 1942, in Carroll County, Georgia, to the late Robert Lee McGuire and Jewel Agnes Nixon McGuire. Jo Sybil obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Women's College of Georgia in Milledgeville, Georgia.
Jo Sybil devoted her professional career to public service, serving as an administrative assistant for the Supreme Court of Georgia. Her work reflected her strong sense of responsibility, organization, and dedication.
A faithful member of Salem Baptist Church, Jo Sybil was deeply involved in her church family. She taught Sunday School and served as Vacation Bible School director for many years, touching the lives of countless children and families through her commitment to faith and service.
She is survived by her sisters, Betty M. Branson, Jerry M. Eady and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Bobby Lee McGuire, Steve Rodney McGuire, Jean M. Laney and Frances Graves.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026 from 1 pm until 2 pm at Almon Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 2 pm from the chapel of Almon Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph Caldwell officiating.
Interment will be in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tommy Branson, Lee Laney, Steven Laney, Brock Eady, Doug Graves and AJ Gentry.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Salem Baptist Church, 1089 Salem Church Road, Carrollton, Georgia 30117.
Messages of condolence may be expressed to the family online at www.almonfuneralhome.com.
