New Ellenton, SC—A celebration of life service for Mrs. Jo D. Shields, age 80, will be held 2:00 pm on Saturday November 22, 2025, at New Life Nazarene Church in New Ellenton with Pastor Ken Stewart and Pastor Thom Harvey officiating. Mrs. Shields entered into rest on Friday November 14, 2025, at her residence. She was the beloved wife of 38 years to Mr. Edwin Earl Shields and a daughter to the late Mr. Charles Darwin and the late Mrs. Francis Miller Darwin. Mrs. Shields was born in Asheville, NC, but had made New Ellenton her home for the last 46 years. She was of the Christian faith and was a member of the New Life Nazarene Church in New Ellenton. Mrs. Shields started out at SRS at Whacken Hut in 1979. She later began working for MK Ferguson where she met her husband. From there, she went to Bectal, retiring in 1993. She loved crafting, and had a gourd and ceramics business. She was also active in women's ministry and was an avid gardener. She was loved by her family and friends and will be deeply missed. Additional survivors include: four sons John (Teresa) F. Druelle, Charles (Toni) D. Druelle, Aiken, Travis (Bridgette) W. Shields, Draper, UT, and Matthew C. Shields, Seattle, WA; one brother Tim Grana, England; three sisters Kay McSpadden, Rockhill, Darlene Darwin, Columbia, and Kelley Lord, FL; thirteen grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. A visitation with the family will take place one hour before the service at New Life Nazarene Church. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the New Life Nazarene Church 407 Jewel St. New Ellenton, SC 29809.
