Ron Shields

Ronald "Ron" Curtis Shields, a resident of Brooks, passed away on March 10, 2026, at the age of 86.

Ron was born on July 26, 1939, in Atlanta to the late Louie Curtis Shields and Mary Hamilton Shields. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Glenda Fountain.

Ron retired from Georgia Power after more than 30 years of dedicated service as a training specialist. He was known as a loving father and a friend to all who knew him.

Ron was a faithful member of Brooks United Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday school. He often designed his own lesson plans and found great joy in sharing his faith and blessing others through his teaching.

In his later years, Ron enjoyed fishing with his family and riding his golf cart around his property, often stopping to overlook the lake and simply enjoy the beauty of the outdoors.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Olivia Turner Shields; his daughters, Rhonda Smith and her husband Robby, and Theresa Shields; and his brother-in-law, Larry Fountain. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

A celebration of life for Ronald Curtis Shields will be Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Brooks United Methodist Church at 1:00 pm. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm. Reverend Lesley Langford will officiate.
