Wilson - Funeral Services for Mrs. Jo Ann "Susie" (Davis) Sanders Welch are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Monday, March 10, 2025 at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson with Rev. David Sanders officiating. Interment will follow to Bomar Point Cemetery.
Jo Ann departed from this life on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at her home in Healdton at the age of 68. She was born on November 4, 1956 at Ardmore, OK to W.F. "Bill" Neal and Mary Stubbs Davis. She was raised by her parents and family in Wilson where she grew up on a little farm just outside of town where she made pets of all the animals. Jo Ann took piano lessons for nine years then taught piano for several years. She attended the Wilson School System graduating in May of 1976. Jo Ann later attended Southern Oklahoma Vocational Technical Center for Practical Nursing Program from August of 1977 to 1978 in Ardmore. She spent 52 years working in the nursing field with the last 26 years at Elmbrook Nursing Home in Ardmore. Jo Ann married Billy Wayne Sanders on July 29, 1974 and to this union, Joy, Stephanie and Katherine were born. She later married Billy Kay Welch on June 3, 1981 in Healdton.
She was preceded in death by her father W.F. "Bill" Neal; paternal grandmother, Beulah Chambers; maternal grandparents, Vera Wilson Stubbs in 1972 and Wiley Stubbs in 1977; her youngest daughter, Katherine Hope Sanders Dyer in 2019; second husband, Billy Kay Welch in 2005, her soul mate, Billy Wayne Sanders in 2025; and a step father, O.W. "Cotton" Davis in 2011.
Jo Ann is survived by her beautiful daughters, Joy Sanders Zapata and Stephanie Sanders Lee both of Wilson; 8 grandchildren, Kyle Zapata and Rose Zapata of Healdton, Tyler Hickman and wife Michelle of Healdton, Brianna Morris and Kason Hacker of Wilson, Megan Sanders and James Dulaney of Healdton, Michael Shea Hutcherson of Ardmore, Nathan Paul Sanders and Cate Odom of Ringling, Lacey Sanders of Healdton, and Haley Sanders and Jorden Robertson of Healdton; 15 great grandchildren, Phoenix, Presley, Jaxson, Jaeleigh, Landon, Bryson, Rebel, Rage, Raiden, Ridleigh, Waylen, Luna, Jasper, Maisyn, and Noah; uncle, Bob Stubbs and family of Lone Grove; two special friends, Deana Cassingham of Healdton, and Cindy Bazzrea of Ardmore; mother, Mary Davis; and a sister, Kimberley Davis of Hastings; and by a host of other family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Kyle Zapata, Tyler Hickman, Shea Hutcherson, Nathen Paul Sanders, Kason Hacker, Jorden Robertson, Nathan Morris and James Dulaney. Honorary bearers will be Benjie Hickman.
Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 5-7 P.M. at Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.
