Joan Banze Obituary
Of Morningside on Sunday, December 26, 2021, age 88. Beloved wife of the late James R. Banze; loving mother of Kathleen DiGiacomo (Steve), James Banze (Nancy), Carol Gapsky (Mike), and Patricia Banze (Tracy Coffey); loving grandmother of Kristin DiGiacomo, Matthew DiGiacomo (Jenn), James Gapsky, Alyssa Banze and Jacob Banze; great-grandmother of Aidan Brunner and Josie DiGiacomo. Joan was an employee of Sears and Roebuck for 20 years. She was past president and lifetime member of the Morningside and West View VFW Auxiliaries. She was a longtime volunteer at West Penn Hospital and the Highland Drive VA Hospital. She was also a member of St. Raphael's Ladies of Charity for many years. Friends received at McCabe Bros., Inc. Funeral Home, 6214 Walnut Street, Shadyside on Tuesday, 2-8 pm. At the family's request, please wear masks to prevent the spread of Covid. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Jude Parish, St. Raphael Church, on Wednesday at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Joan's name to the Wounded Warriors Project. Condolences may be left at www.mccabebrothers.com
