Tuppers Plains—Joan Luann Brown, 71, of Tuppers Plains, OH, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2025, at Arcadia Nursing Center in Coolville, OH.
She was born December 13, 1953, in Marietta, OH, daughter of the late Glenden and Helen Noreen Fogle Bates. Luann loved horses and was a member of the Appalachian Riding Club and Turner Ridge Riding Club. She was also a member of the Ohio Horse Council Meigs Chapter. Along with her husband she was a farmer since 1984. She was also a member of the Hickory Hills Church of Christ. Luann was a wonderful cook, loved canning-her specialty was Grape Sunshine and going shopping.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Alan Brown; 2 daughters, Julie (Don) Stobaugh and Laura (Rick) Ross; son, Joe (Elyse) Brown; 8 grandchildren, Sean, Hailey, Austin (Kylie), Megan, Ryan, Ellie, Tyler and Connor; one great-grandchild, Cameron; 3 brothers, Lloyd (Barbara) Bates, Gary (Linda) Bates and Terry (Nancy) Bates; sister, Cindy (Steven) Johnson; sister-in-law, Diane Bates and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Dixie Lee Bates and 2 brothers, Leon Bates and Larry Bates.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M., Saturday, March 8, 2025, at White Funeral Home in Coolville, OH.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home Saturday from noon until time of service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Society in Luann’s name or to the Hickory Hills Church of Christ, P.O. Box 124, Tuppers Plains, OH 45783.
