Joan Delores Bymaster, of Durand, passed away Monday, November 18, 2024 at Vibrant Life Senior Living of Durand. after a lengthy illness. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, 501 N. Saginaw St., Durand, MI 48429. Dr. Brandon Keys will officiate. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 AM until the time of service.
Joan was born August 30, 1942, the daughter of Floyd and Dorothy Nelson.
Joan married Robert Bymaster on October 3, 1980.
She graduated from Durand High School, class of 1960. She worked in the manufacturing industry and retired from Motor Products in 2007.
Joan attended the Owosso First Church of Christ. She was a fabulous cook. She loved her family and gatherings, giving to those in need, and reading the Bible.
Joan is survived by husband, Robert; children, Dana Swantek, Cindy Johnson, and Kelly (John) Keys; grandchildren, Chad (Molly) Johnson, Johnny (Amanda) Keys, Kody Keys, and Dr. Brandon Keys, 3 great-grandchildren, Barrett, Demi, and Addison; stepchildren, Tammy (Robbie) Shields, Robert (Conni) Bymaster, Teresa (Craig) Dehmel, and Renee (Jeff) Hartwick; 10 step-grandchildren, and 10 step-great-grandchildren; sister, Connie (Dale) Karhoff; sister-in-law, Gwen Nelson; brother-in-law, William (Debbie) Bymaster, many nieces and nephews, and very special life-long friend, Patsy Wheeler.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, William Nelson; son-in-law, Dennis Swantek, and step-grandson, Kevin Shields.
The family would like to thank Vibrant Life Senior Living for caring for Joan over the last two years.
Memorials are suggested to Durand Area Loaves and Fishes or to Shiawassee County Humane Society.
