Joan F. (Downing) Cahee, 90, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2025 at Atria Marland Place in Andover. She was the wife of the late Robert A. Cahee.
Born in South Weymouth on April 23, 1935, she was the daughter of Charles and Grace (Riley) Downing. Joan was raised in Chester, New Hampshire and graduated from Pinkerton Academy. Joan and Robert moved to Danvers where they raised their son, Robert Jr. Joan's home was the place where the whole family would love to come together.
Joan was a communicant of Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church and volunteered for the Peabody Institute Library in Danvers. Joan had worked as a secretary & had been a longtime caregiver in a state group home in North Reading.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Robert A. Cahee Jr. and Tina Yaskell of Bourne, her siblings, Richard Downing of MA, John Downing of NH, Kathryn Ransom of VA, Larry Downing of NH, Stephen Downing of ME and Robert Downing of ME, over fifty nieces and nephews and her best friends Stephanie Jones of NH and Darice Yaskell of MA. She was predeceased by her siblings, Charles and Paul Downing and Grace MacDonough and dear friend Alfred Todaro.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11AM on Thursday, October 30, 2025 in Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday October 29, 2025 from 4-7PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers, MA, 01923. She will be buried privately alongside her husband in Vermont. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Joan's name to the Alzheimer's Association at https://www.alz.org or to a charity of your choice.
