Beloved daughter, mother, grandmother and great grandmother

WOLCOTT – Mrs. Joan Carrah, age 91 of Wolcott, went peacefully to her heavenly father on Tuesday July 16, 2024. She was the wife of the late Joseph Carrah for 62 wonderful years.

Joan was born in Waterbury, Connecticut on November 7, 1932 the daughter of the late Annette (LaVasseur) and Raymond Galipault. Joan was a passionate and faithful member of the St. Pius X Church parish. Her several contributions to the Church included serving in the St. Pius X Church Ladies Guild, acting as a Eucharistic minister, and teaching Sunday school.Beyond her dedication and contributions to her Church, Joan was an active member in her community through her work with the Gen. Phillip Sheriden Columbiettes Auxiliary and her many years as an accomplished hairdresser. Of the many things Joan had to be proud of, she was most proud of her family and cherished her time spent with them. Joan was a beloved wife to her husband Joe, and cherished singing and dancing around the house with him. She was also an extraordinary cook and baker who relished in hosting her family and friends, and making everyone happy. She will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her. Our family thanks you Mom, for every prayer you uttered for us, for the many sacrifices you made for us, for thousands of hugs you shared with us and the unending love you instilled in all of us.

Left to honor her legacy are her children; her daughter, Susan (Carrah) Carserino and her husband John, her son, Michael Carrah and his wife, Donna, her son, James Carrah and his wife Amanda; grandchildren: Christina Carrah, Melissa Hart and her wife Kerri, Kara Carserino and her fiancé Ziggy Burzacki, Michael Carrah Jr. and his husband Russell Dinolfo, Mikayla Carrah, Madison Carrah, Evan Carrah and Ava Carrah, great grandsons: Cooper Burzacki,Nicolas Hart, Eli Burzacki, Zachary Hart and many nieces and nephews. Joan was predeceased by her brothers; Raymond Galipault, Bernard Galipault, Donald Galipault and Robert Galipault.

Funeral services for Mrs. Carrah will be held on Tuesday July 23 rd , 2024 at 10:30 a.m. from Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care 1987 East Main St Waterbury to St Basil the Great Parish, St Pius X Church Woodtick Rd Wolcott to celebrate a Mass of Christian at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with the Carrah family on Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Loving kindness is always welcome, and it only takes a moment to offer a message of condolence and share a memory or words of comfort with the family and friends of someone who was important to you.
