Joan DeClark Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hahn Funeral Home on Feb. 3, 2025.
Joan C. DeClark, 82, of Mishawaka passed away at home on February 1, 2025. Joan was born to the late Delmo and Gena (Bulgarelli) Logli on April 24, 1942, in Des Moines, IA. Joan married the love of her life Tom DeClark at St. Bavo Catholic Church on September 2, 1961. She became a hairdresser, working alongside her mother in the Logli Beauty Shop on 10th Street in Mishawaka for forty-two years.
Joan is survived by her husband of sixty-three years, Tom DeClark; her children, John (Christine) DeClark and Marilyn (David) Miller; her grandchildren Justin DeClark and Lindsey Miller as well as many extended family members and friends.
Joan and Tom lived on their farm in Madison Township for 34 years. They eventually moved to Hoffman Lake in Warsaw, Indiana before returning to Mishawaka. During the winter months they enjoyed the warmth and friends in Okeechobee, Florida. Joan attended St. Bavo Catholic Church as well as Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Warsaw. Joan was known for her excellent Italian dinners and the cake she took to many funerals. She loved to cheer on the Fighting Irish and the Chicago Bears. She was a fan of the tv series Heartland. More than anything Joan loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren.
Visitation for Joan will be held on Thursday, February 6th, from 5-7pm in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Rosary service will be held prior to the visitation at 4:30pm in the funeral home. Friends may also visit on Friday, February 7th, from 10-10:45am in the funeral home prior to Mass. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Friday, February 7th, in St. Bavo Catholic Church, 511 W 7th St, Mishawaka. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery of Mishawaka.
The family wishes to give a very special thank you to Barb Troyer and Rachel Gingerich who have helped care for Joan the past few months. The family would also like to thank Alyson and Elara Caring staff for the care they provided Joan in her final days. Donations in Joan's honor may be made to St. Bavo Catholic Church, 511 W 7th St, Mishawaka, IN 46544 or to Elara Caring, 314 W Catalpa Dr Suites E-F, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
