Joan May Demeritt 90, of Rockaway Township, NJ peacefully passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 with her loving family by her side.
Joan was born on April 2, 1935 to the late Frederick and Grace Corby, she was the youngest and last survivor of four children.
Joan was a graduate of Rockaway High School in Rockaway Borough, NJ. Soon after she worked as a switchboard telephone operator on the busiest NY board with the NJ Bell Telephone Company in Morristown, NJ. Joan was always very dedicated to our Lord and Savior and to her religion. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of the Rockaways.
Joan's true passion in life was being a mother and a grandmother. As a proud homemaker she provided continued care, dedication, kindness, compassion and unconditional love to both her children and her grandchildren, even up until the day she passed.
She will always be remembered as the most selfless, caring, and loving mother and grandmother. Her legacy lives on in those closest to her and in those who truly knew her.
She is survived by her beloved children, Michele Demeritt-Stiles and Scott Demeritt and his beautiful wife Anne Christensen; her three cherished grandchildren, Siera, Zachary, and Christopher; and her much loved grand-dog Rocky.
