Joan M. Devine

Mrs. Joan Mary "Joanie" Devine, age 79, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025, in Methuen, Massachusetts. Born on May 29, 1945, in the same city she called home throughout her life, Joanie was a vibrant presence whose warmth and laughter touched the lives of many.
Joanie devoted her professional life to education, working as an elementary school teacher. Her dedication to nurturing young minds left a lasting imprint on generations of students. In every classroom she entered, Joanie brought not only knowledge but also kindness and joy that resonated far beyond the school walls.
For 44 cherished years, she shared her life with her husband Don Devine. Together they built a home filled with love and deep connection. Joanie was also a devoted mother to her son Nik Jones and a proud grandmother to Emily Jones and Sara Jones. Her family was the center of her world, and she embraced each role with wholehearted affection.
She is also remembered by her sisters Carol Martin and Joyce Fontenot. Joanie was predeceased by her mother, Grace Bustowski.
With a heart as expansive as her smile, Joanie had a gift for bringing light into any room. Her humor was contagious, her generosity unmatched. Whether dancing freely or preparing meals for loved ones, she lived each moment with joy and intention.
Her passions-cruising the open seas, capturing memories through scrapbooking, shopping for hidden treasures-reflected her creative spirit and zest for life.
Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Tuesday May 20, 2025 from 9 am to 11 am at the Dewhirst Boles Funeral Home 80 Broadway, Methuen. Funeral services will follow the calling hours at 11:00 am on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen.
