Joan was born December 11, 1937, in Council Bluffs, to Edward G. and Isabelle (Vanard) Coffelt and graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1956. She was united in marriage to Raymond Deyo on May 31, 1956.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son and infant sister.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 57 years, Raymond; daughter, Anita Thomas and husband, Howard, all of Council Bluffs; son, Mark, of Knoxville, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Jason (Michelle) Deyo, Brian Deyo, Jodi (Mike Jr.) Quakenbush, all of Council Bluffs, Scott (Samantha) Thomas, Allan Deyo, both of Omaha, Neb., Hunter Deyo, Knoxville, Tenn.; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Norman (Sharon) Coffelt, of Cabot, Ark.; nieces and nephews; and her beloved Golden Retriever, Barney.
Visitation Monday, 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral service Tuesday, 11 a.m., all at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Interment Ridgewood Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at the Walnut Hill Reception Center. Memorials to the Humane Society and Hospice of Southwest Iowa.
