Joan Dick - known lovingly as Mama, Nonna, Grandma, Joanie and JoAnn - passed away peacefully at the age of 92 in her beloved Big Red House on December 6, 2025. Though she still had so much work left to do and so much love left to give, God called her home to Heaven, where her spirit is alive with joy, celebration, and the only kind of fun she could bring.
Joan Louise Dick was born January 10, 1933, in
Bethlehem, Pennsylvania to Edgar Franklin and Elizabeth Brands Beehler. From the very beginning, Joan had a heart big enough to hold the whole world. She became a Registered Nurse and poured her compassion into St. Mary's and Mercy Hospital in Labor and Delivery, Home Health, Hospice, and the SHARE program, where she comforted mothers facing unimaginable loss. Caring for others wasn't just her profession – it was her calling. Joan loved her family fiercely and joyfully. She filled her days with travel adventures, music humming through the house, good food on the stove, gardens that bloomed under her gentle touch, and endless acts of kindness for anyone who needed her. She never missed a chance to cheer on her Razorbacks and made sure everyone around her did the same. A devoted member of First United Methodist Church in Rogers, Joan stayed actively involved throughout her life, serving on countless committees and lifting up her community. Her heart was especially tender for children with special needs. She treasured her time with
Sunshine School and the weekend adventures she shared with her special-needs granddaughter at Roaring River. She proudly served as their nurse, giving them the same warmth, humor and steady care she gave her own family. After her retirement, she was also deeply committed to helping others through Habitat for Humanity, dedicating her time and energy to helping families qualify and build homes to create better lives.
Joan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Donald Eugene Dick; her brothers Nevin and Asa; her sister Ella Mae Beehler; and one grandson, Christopher Dick.
She survives and is adored by four children:
*Richard John Dick and wife Debbie
*Donna Elizabeth McDonald and husband William
*Scott Edgar Dick and wife Debra
*Jenny Joan Mathews
She also left the legacy of eight grandchildren - Scott Mathews, Jackson Mathews, Rebekah Barrows, Rachel Gordon, Melissa McClellan, Jennifer Marie Dick, LeAnna Williams, Dennie Dick - as well as eleven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Joan's life will be Saturday, December 20th, 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in downtown Rogers. In true "mom" fashion, she wanted this to be a joyful gathering, and she specifically asked that everyone wear Razorback attire – so please come as she wished, dressed in Hog red in her honor. She fought the good fight. Her work here is done. We've got it from here, "Mom". Now go have some fun. For those family and friends who are unable to attend, the service will be live streamed on YouTube. Search for FUMC Rogers on YouTube.
