Joan V. Ditmars, 80, of Washington Township, NJ passed away peacefully on November 18, 2021 at St Luke's Warren Hospital.
Joan was born on February 23, 1941 in Irvington, NJ to the late William and Margaret "Marcelonis" Vincent. Joan graduated from Livingston High School class of 1959. She moved to Washington, NJ in 1968 and was employed as a Medical Technologist for 30 years for Ciba-Geigy Pharmaceutical in Summit, NJ until her retirement in 1992. Her loving husband John Ditmars passed away in 2013. In her youth she was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and a past member of the American Medical Technologist Association for over 50 years. Joan enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking and sewing. She also enjoyed taking rides with her husband on his motorcycle. Joan was all about family, she adored her grandchildren more then life and cherished time spent with them.
Joan is survived by her daughters, Catherine Shadis and Linda Shadis Magyar; a son, Steven Shadis; stepchildren, Randolph Ditmars and Deborah Cherneski; a brother, Paul Vincent; 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and her cat Twitch. In addition to her husband, Joan was preceded in death by her sons Michael and David Shadis and a stepson Martin Ditmars.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday November 23, 2021 from 3-5:30 PM at the Warren Hills Memorial Home. 234 W. Washington Ave. Washington, NJ.07882. A service of remembrance will be celebrated on Tuesday at 5:30 PM at the funeral home. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers donation may be made in Joan's' name to Heifer International. 1 World Ave. Little Rock, AR 72202. OR any local cat shelter.
