Joan Eschert

Joan (Murch) Eschert, 95, of Avon, Connecticut, East Orleans, Massachusetts and Captiva, FL, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving children on Tuesday, August 15, 2023. Born in Chicago, on April 30, 1928, the daughter of the late George J. and Dorothy (Hardenbrook) Murch. Joan was raised in Greenwich, CT and was a 1946 graduate of Greenwich High School, where she was known as the class wit. Following high school Joan interned at Radio City Musical Hall serving as a page and was active in the theater community. She also volunteered as an Air Raid Warden during WWII. However, her greatest joy was being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her family. Joan lived in Avon, Connecticut for nearly 60 years. She moved to Captiva, FL as a resident in 1984 and joined the Captiva Yacht Club. She was also an active board member for the Chapel by the Sea in Captiva. Joan enjoyed her status as a "Snow bird." Traveling between the East Coast and Southern Florida. Joan was an avid golfer both in Connecticut and Florida. She had a distinguished record highlighted by achieving two holes in one. Joan is survived by her son, James M. Eschert and his wife June of Avon, her daughter-in-law Sally Eschert of Avon, her daughter, Kimberly E. Cook and her husband Jay of Ft. Myers, FL, her daughter, Susan Rueda of Avon and her sons, William E. Eschert and his wife Janice of Avon, her eight grandchildren, Jimmy Eschert of Avon, Becky Truscio and her husband Jason of Simsbury, Ryan Dibble of Charlston, SC, Matthew Eschert of London, England, Richard Rueda of Dallas, TX, Nicholas Rueda of New York, Ashley Eschert of New York, NY, John Eschert of Middlebury, VT, her great-grandchildren, Mark Truscio, Keegan Dibble and Finely Truscio. She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Earnest Eschert, her sisters, Barabara Frantz and Ann Mumma. Services for Joan Murch Eschert will be private and at the convenience of the family. She will be laid to rest with her husband Ernest in Greenwood Cemetery in Avon. In lieu of flowers donations in Joan's memory may be made to Captiva Chapel by the Sea, P.O.
