Joan Evans, 104, of Lehigh Acres, Florida, passed away Saturday, September 27, 2025 at Fort Myers Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
Born July 8, 1921 in Sayre, Oklahoma, she was a daughter of the late Ollie & Bruce Moyer. Joan had two sisters, Melvina and Rosetta, and one brother, Paul, that preceded her in death.
She was a graduate of Loretto Academy. After completing business school, Joan obtained her first job at Woolworths then later worked at Kirkland Air Force Base as a clerk.
On March 21, 1942, she married her love, Watson Evans, with whom she shared 64 years of marriage before his passing in 2006. Together, they enjoyed traveling in their RV to Florida and visiting family in Pennsylvania.
She attended Cogan Station Christian Church.
Joan enjoyed working with ceramics and was an avid Bingo player.
In March 2015, Joan moved with her granddaughter, Renee, to Florida where she remained active and engaged in the community.
In addition to her granddaughter, Renee (Brian) Shipton of Florida, she is survived by her great granddaughters: Brittani, Shaylin and Makaylin Sluzalis.
Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Ann Corcelius and granddaughter, Michelle Corcelius.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. at Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, PA 17745. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven.
Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
Per Joan wishes, contributions may be made to either North Central Sight Services or Roads to Freedom Center for Independent Living through the funeral home.
