Daniel Hayes, 77, of Lock Haven died Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at Lock Haven Rehabilitation & Senior Living with his wife of 55 years by his side.
He was a beloved son of the late Robert and Rita Hayes.
Dan was the loving husband of Joanne Hayes; devoted father of Kristen (deceased) and Scott Hayes; doting grandfather of M. Danielle, Ryenn and Aiden Hayes; cherished brother of Kathleen Hayes, Kevin (Laurie) Hayes, Mary Ellen Rupert, Margaret (Mike) Yohe, Michael (Jackie) Hayes, Mary Ann (Tom) Kies, Mary Rita (Tim) Vaeth and Robert, Jr. (Lori) Hayes; and an uncle to 10 nieces and 9 nephews and their children.
His life was a colorful and complete tapestry filled with love and the ability to make the most of any situation, handling it with grace, humor and fierce determination.
Dan was a good friend, ready to help anyone. He was generous with his time and many talents- be it helping adults learn to read, playing music at church, setting up the St. Agnes Fair, helping at the Newman Center or assisting with the YMCA Swim Team.
His final gift was donating his body to Hershey Medical Center's Penn State College of Medicine, helping future doctors learn.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 11 AM at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 3 E. Walnut St., Lock Haven, with a luncheon immediately following.
Donations in Dan's name may be made to either Lock Haven Catholic School Angel Fund, 311 W. Water St., Lock Haven, PA 17745 or Kristen Hayes' Memorial Scholarship Fund, for a graduating female soccer player. Please make checks payable to Keystone Central Foundation, PO Box 365, Lock Haven, PA 17745, noting "Kristen Hayes" on the memo line.
