Pauline Elizabeth Ammerman, 100, of Lock Haven, passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at her home. Pauline was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. Pauline was known for her generous heart and the kindness she extended to everyone she met. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Pauline was born on November 29, 1924, in Lock Haven, the oldest of nine children, to Floyd and Gladys (Perry) Newberry.
On February 16, 1946, in a double wedding ceremony in Lock Haven, Pauline married the love of her life, WWII Army Air Corp Veteran, David A. Ammerman. Pauline and Dave shared 56 years of marriage until his passing in 2002.
Pauline worked as a laborer at various factories throughout her life. Holding various positions at Sylvania, Bloomsburg Mills (Silk Mill), Woolrich Woolen Mills, and Champion Auto Parts, but was most proud of being a wife, mother and grandmother.
Pauline was selfless, always putting the needs of others before her own. She never refused anyone a meal or a place to stay. Pauline enjoyed cross stitching, jigsaw puzzles, word search puzzles, cooking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. "She wouldn't have traded them for all the money in the world". Pauline and Dave were long time campers at the Ferry Boat Campground and enjoyed spending time with friends and family there. They also enjoyed the years spent using their season passes at the Port Royal Sprint Car Races and traveling to Niagara Falls.
Pauline is survived by one son, David A. Ammerman, Jr. (Kathy) of New Columbia, PA.
Also surviving are four grandchildren, Amber (Ed Pucci) Castle, George R Gummo Jr., Colin Ammerman, Ashley (Paul Howell) Ammerman; seven great- grandchildren: Megan (Luke) Ulsamer, Dylan Coleman, Connor (Amy) McCrimmon, Elise McCrimmon, Archie McCrimmon, Joshua and Nathan Howell; and six great-great grandchildren: Evie, Ivy, and William McCrimmon and Hale, Ridge, and Eden Ulsamer.
Pauline is also survived by a son-in-law, George R. Gummo; and two sisters: Doris Merrifield and Beverly Grassmier, both of Lock Haven and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to Pauline's husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon R. Gummo; a granddaughter, Beth Ammerman McCrimmon and siblings; Floyd Newberry Jr, Myrna Mills, Donald Newberry, Carole Culvey, Judy Englert and her baby brother, Billy.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to UPMC Hospice and Home Care, especially her nurse Amber for her kind and compassionate care over the past few years. They are also grateful for Pauline's home health aides that became family, for all their wonderful care, love and support.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at 12 P.M. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, PA 17745 with Captain Jacki Brewer officiating. Burial committal services will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven.
