Joan Green Gosser, 83, of Vienna, VA, beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away on November 2, 2024, in Alexandria, VA.
Joan was born in Baltimore, MD to Army Sgt. James Green and Jane Green (Jawanovich) on September 25, 1941. She received her B.A. from the College of Notre Dame and her Master of Library Science from the University of Pittsburgh. She married Arvin Charles "Chuck" Gosser, Jr. on July 9, 1966, in Sandusky, Ohio. Prior to starting her family, she worked as a librarian at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center Library and as a librarian at the CIA Library. Later in life she worked as a part-time librarian for the Fairfax County Library.
Joan is preceded in death by her husband Chuck and her sister Jane. Joan is survived by her daughter Caroline Walton (Andy) of Alexandria, VA and her son David Gosser (Allison) of Washington D.C. and her grandchildren Madeline Walton, Catherine Walton and Everett Gosser.
The viewing and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00am on November 14, 2024, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 8710 Mount Vernon Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22309. Interment will follow at the National Memorial Cemetery at Quantico at 1:00 PM
