Joan Louise Hale, age 92, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2025, at Villa Serena in Mayfield Heights, Ohio. Born December 15, 1932, in Cleveland, Joan lived a life full of love, warmth, and quiet strength.
A devoted mother, Joan was the beloved matriarch of the Hale family, guiding her children James, John, and Peggy with compassion, humor, and unwavering support. She was the adored grandmother of Kristen Hale, Dylan Murphy, and Dalton Murphy, and the proud great-grandmother of Ethan and Devin Spoth and Madeline and Garrett Murphy. Her family was her heart, and she never missed an opportunity to celebrate their joys or offer comfort in their challenges.
Joan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert M. Hale, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and laughter, and by her dear cousin Clarence "Bud" Jan, whose friendship remained a treasured constant throughout her life.
She had a deep love for animals-especially her cherished cats and dogs-and her gentle, nurturing spirit extended to every creature she met. Joan also had a lifelong passion for reading, watching classic films, and, of course, shopping-always with a touch of style and a sparkle in her eye.
A private graveside service to honor Joan's life will be held to honor and remember her remarkable life.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Joan's name to the Euclid Pet Pals, a cause dear to her heart.
