Joan Adele Ham

Joan Adele Ham was born to Harriet and Charles A. Meyer on October 20, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan. She departed this life on November 10, 2025 at the age of 91. She had one beloved sister Jeanne Pinters.
Joan married Gilbert Ham on December 20, 1969. They raised their blended family in Waterford, Michigan. She is preceded in death by her husband Gilbert Ham, sister Jeanne Pinters, and sons Donald Somerville and George Ham. She is survived by her sons Jim Somerville and Paul Ham as well as her daughters Judy (David) Cox and Laura Ingram. Joan is also survived by her many beloved grandchildren, Melissa (Blake) Byrd, Ryan Cox, Kathleen (Mike) Ham, Patty (Kevin) Ham, Elizabeth Ham, Kristen Grace, Paul Ingram, and Chole Somerville, her cherished nephew Dave Zmyer and her numerous great grandchildren whom she adored.
Joan and Gil made many beautiful memories while traveling. She enjoyed playing piano, painting, and jigsaw puzzles. She loved spending time with family and friends especially when at Jim's home in Kalkaska. She was an active member of Unity Church of Livonia.
She lived one day at a time, one moment at a time, she accepted hardship as a pathway to peace. She trusted that each trial came with a plan from God and it was His will which would bring her happiness in this life so that she could be supremely happy with Him in the next.
Joan was adored by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. She would love for all to toast a drink or share a meal in her name with friends and family.
Her life will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Lynch and Sons Funeral Home, 5391 Highland Rd. Waterford, at 1pm. Friends may visit beginning at 11am. Interment will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly.
