Joan Hoerning, age 92, passed peacefully on May 11, 2023, Joan was born in Appleton on August 13, 1930, daughter of the late Raymond and Mary (Gerritts) Lang. On June 13, 1951 she married Reinald Hoerning; he preceded her in death in 2010.
Joan will be remembered for her talented skills in the craft world. She was a fantastic seamstress who sewed clothes for her daughters and their dolls. She had other interests and talents which included ceramics, knitting and needlepoint. Her favorite pass time was spending time at the family cottage in Sugar Camp, Wisconsin.
Joan is survived by three loving daughters: Christine (Gary) Kreft, Connie Hoerning, and Carrie Gromacki; two grandchildren: Daniel (Tracy) Heinritz and Julie (Jake Schwinger) Gromacki; and a brother-in-law Bruce Stelow. There are also several nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son-in-law Gary, her siblings Ken (Lucy) Lang, Rita (Joe) Griesbach, Mary Jane (Jim) Oliver, Ted (Joyce) Lang, Joe (Nancy) Lang; a great-granddaughter McKenna Heinritz, and a sister-in-law Kareen Stelow.
The funeral liturgy will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, located at 1810 N. McDonald Street in Appleton, with Fr. Jack Mullarkey officiating. Entombment will take place in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund to honor Joan’s memory is being established.

My sincere condolences to the family of Joan Hoerning. I can not attend the services tomorrow but will be there in spirit. We shared a family togetherness for many years and consequently many great moments as well. God Bless all of you.
