Suzy Hoerning, 60, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at ThedaCare Medical Center, Appleton. She was born on March 14, 1962, in Appleton, the daughter of John and Jeane (Barrett) Hoerning. Suzy worked for many years at Valley Packaging. She was a Gold Medalist for the Special Olympics in Freestyle Swimming in Stevens Point, and was Athlete of the Year for the Fox Valley. One of her favorite accomplishments was being titled Prom Queen at Brewster Village. She loved bowling, football, traveling, giving, and getting hugs in return, going to the cottage in Florence, and enjoying a beer with her father or brother, Jeff. Suzy will be remembered most for her fun-loving, spunky personality, her notoriously mischievous antics, her love of M&M’s, and all things music, whether singing, simply listening to it, or attending concerts.
Suzy is survived by her 3 siblings: Gary (Ann) Hoerning, Jeff (Julie) Hoerning, and Renee (Mike) Atkinson; niece and nephew: Michelle (Trey Ratzlaff) Hoerning and Bryan (Nikki) Hoerning; 3 great nephews and a great niece: Nate and C.J. Wolfe and Austin and Addison Hoerning; other relatives and friends.
Suzy was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents: Wally “Bapa” and Trudy “Mom” Klein, and Aunt Margaret Hoppe.
Funeral services for Suzy will be at Noon on Thursday, December 1, 2022, at the Highland Memorial Park Chapel, 3131 N. Richmond St., Appleton. Visitation will be on Thursday at the chapel from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Interment will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are appreciated to Special Olympics of the Fox Valley.
Suzy was always so appreciative of her caregivers over the years, and her family would like to extend that appreciation on their and Suzy’s behalf. We are all thankful for the care and love from the 7th floor staff at ThedaCare Medical Center, Appleton as well as the staff at Brewster Village, Appleton.
It gives us peace to know that you are back in the arms of Mom, Dad, and Aunt Margaret. Until we meet again!
