Joan Knight Kennedy was born in Crystal Springs, MS on April 14, 1938. She raised her family in Atlanta, GA until her husband retired and they moved back to MS. Joan worked most of her adult life as an Administrator of Insurance and Payroll ending her career with Ergon where she worked for 25 years. It was her great joy raising tomatoes on their farm and sharing them with her Ergon family! She and Dale loved raising daylillies and flowers of all kinds alongside their vegetable garden. She was a member of the Chautauqua Garden Club. Joan had a love for cooking which she enjoyed sharing with others. She taught the next generation how to make her famous fruitcakes and now groups gather each year to carry on her tradition! She loved her family and friends, always seeking ways to serve and love them. She was well loved in return. She leaves behind many friends of all ages. She attended Bethesda Methodist Church where she served as their treasurer and ran their food pantry for many years.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Dale Kennedy, her parents Jake Tully Knight and Dovie May Sullivan Knight, brothers Earl and Carley(Spud) Knight, sisters, Sylvia, Carolyn( Will) DuBois, Bobby Nell (RF) Johnson.
She is survived by her daughters, Melanie (Ted) DiBiase and Lori Kennedy. Grandsons Michael DiBiase, Teddy (Kristen)DiBiase, Jr, Brett (Melissa) DiBiase, Jesse Landon(Mary) Kennedy. Sister, Peggy (John Clark) Johnson; Great grandchildren include Tate and Ava DiBiase, Eli and Easton DiBiase and Lilly and Maggie Claire Kennedy.
We are thankful her eternity is sealed and we will see her someday again.
A graveside service will be 11am Saturday at Harmony Cemetery.
