Joan Margaret Luff, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on March 24, 2025, at the age of 85 after a brief illness. Born on April 12, 1939, in Richboro, Bucks County, Joan lived a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to her family, her church and her community.
A 1957 graduate of Council Rock High School in Newtown, PA, Joan embarked on a lifelong journey of care and compassion. For many years, she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Richboro Care Center, where she touched many lives with her kindness and dedication.
On June 16, 1962, Joan married her beloved husband, Henry Luff. Together, they made their home in Southampton, where they raised their three children. Theirs was a partnership marked by love and shared joys, lasting until Henry's passing.
Joan was a woman of diverse interests, enjoying the quiet pleasure of reading and the challenge of Seek and Finds. She had a special fondness for her dogs over the years, who brought her much joy and companionship.
Since her birth, Joan was a faithful attendee at Addisville Church, where she found spiritual nourishment and community. Growing up she walked to church with her sisters. It was like her second home. She delighted in listening to the choir (for we know Joan could not carry a tune) and actively participated in numerous church activities, always eager to lend a helping hand. She and our family had the great fortune to have one of her favorite choir members sing solo at her hospital bedside. What an incredible gift given to her in hearing her favorite hymns In the Garden and How Great Thou Art. The thoughtfulness of others touched all of our hearts in a special way.
Her greatest joy, however, was her family. She cherished spending time with her three children: her son, John Henry Luff of Upper Southampton; her daughters, Julia Delores Woll and her husband Mark of Warminster, and Janice Deborah Gieringer and her husband David of Hatfield. Her legacy continues through her three granddaughters, Adrienne Burkholder and her husband Paul, Lizabeth Skilton, and Amanda Woll, and her two great-granddaughters, Charlie and Parker. Her sister Elizabeth Anderson of Allentown also survives her.
Joan's vibrant spirit and wit were well-known among her family and friends. Her ability to bring laughter and joy into any room will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Rose (Tanner) Fleer, her beloved husband Henry, her identical twin sister Sarah Atkins who resided in Sullivan County, and her sister Edna Fleer who resided in Perkasie. Joan is survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends who will remember her warmth and humor
Joan Margaret Luff leaves behind a legacy of compassion, laughter, and love that will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have known her. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
