Obituary of Joan Marion Macdonald
Joan "Flood" MacDonald, 86, passed away on June 19,2023 at a Bangor health facility after a brief illness.
Joan was born November 17,1936 in Calais Maine to Clinton and Doris (Harriman) Flood. She spent her career utilizing her skill with numbers in the world of banking and was very prideful of her abilities. Joan was an avid sports enthusiast never missing a Celtics game. She even got to share the chance to go see them with her late son Fran. She spent every chance she had creating memories with her family. From sitting outside in the sun, working in her garden, to going to her grandson's sporting events she loved being outside as much as possible. Joan was blessed enough to not only be a sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother she also made herself into a person that anyone that met her will never forget.
Joan left us to be with her husband, Francis Reid MacDonald, who was lost far too soon in 1984. She is also predeceased by her beloved son, Francis "Fran" Reid MacDonald. Joan is kept in the hearts of her daughters Mary Bartlett and husband John of Danforth, Michele Robinson and husband Stacy of Hermon and daughter-in-law Linda MacDonald of Portland. As well as 5 grandsons Michael Bartlett, Matthew Bartlett, Mark Bartlett, Mitchell Bartlett, Hunter Clukey and his wife Kelly. Joan's three great-grandchildren Abby Bartlett, Deklan Flewelling, and Reid Clukey. Joan will also be greatly missed by her special nieces Susan and Stephanie and sister-in-law Mary MacDonald along with so many more.
In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to may donate to the Bangor Humane Society in Joans memory- she adored all of her animal babies.
