In Loving Memory of Joan Maresca
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Joan Maresca, who departed this life peacefully on July 22, 2025, at the age of 91.
Born on February 15, 1934 in Manhattan, Joan devoted her life to caring for others, both professionally and personally. As a nurse, she brought comfort and healing to countless patients with her unwavering compassion. After the untimely loss of her husband Tito R. Maresca, M.D., she single handedly raised their four young children. Her strength, resilience, and love shaped the lives of her family and inspired everyone who knew her.
Joan's legacy lives on in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who carry forward her values and love. She is survived by her children-daughter Maria Kohl (née Maresca) and her spouse Douglas D. Kohl, son Michael J. Maresca, M.D. and his partner Arianna Lendino, son Tito R. Maresca Jr., and daughter Elizabeth Maresca and her spouse Robert Ortof; her eleven grandchildren- Nicole Severino (née Maresca) and her husband Anthony Severino, Kristina Kohl, Harry Ortof, Andrew Kohl, Natalie Ortof, Thomas Maresca, Tito Maresca, Amanda Maresca, Robert Kohl, Max Ortof, and Guiletta Maresca; her great-grandchildren-Lewis and Benjamin Severino; and her daughter-in-law Susan Bauer. She is preceded in death by her husband Tito R. Maresca, M.D., her granddaughter Samantha Joan Kohl, and her devoted, loving, and loud sisters Margie Cardamone, Mary Gargano, Jeanne Casimates, Josephine (Thuthie) Annella, Eleanor Geraci, Anne Starrantino, and Margaret Poretta.
