Joan Matt Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Klein Funeral Home - Tomball on Jun. 27, 2024.
Joan Marie Matt
Joan Matt passed into the hands of Our Lord June 17, 2024 to forever rest in peace and be reunited with her husband of 68 years.
Joan leaves behind a large loving family to whom she was the cornerstone. She is survived by six children and spouses - Stephen Matt (CO), William Matt (TX), Patti Hill (CO), Mary Tipton (TX), Daniel Matt (TX), Michael Matt (TX), 21 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Joan was born February 2, 1929 in Ogden, Iowa to Leo and Mary Haberer. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Boone, Iowa where she played trombone in the marching band. After high school she trained in floral design, a skill she practiced well into her 80's arranging for the altar at three Catholic parishes, weddings and events. She also became a master seamstress making clothes for herself, children and grandchildren along with draperies and upholstery.
In June, 1951, Joan married William R. "Bill" Matt in Boone, Iowa. In 1957, they moved to Broomfield, Colorado and continued growing their family. They were extremely active in the community and founding members of Nativity of Our Lord Church and School. While raising seven children, Joan attended Regis University in Denver and graduated with a BA in 1974 alongside her eldest son Steve.
In 1977 Joan and Bill were given an opportunity and relocated with their youngest sons to Tomball, Texas where they were active in local events and as members of St. Anne's Church until they moved to The Conservatory in Spring, Texas in 2016. Following her husband's passing in 2019, Joan continued to enjoy being a part of The Conservatory's community.
Joan has been an active member of St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Community for over 25 years and has served in roles too numerous to count. She is truly a Jill of all trades. She will be remembered for her love of family, fellowship, and Church along with her willingness to help everyone.
Those that we have held in our arms will live in our hearts forever.
