Joan Patricia McGoey

Joan Patricia McGoey, 79 years old, of Freehold, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Brooklyn, NY to Thomas Andrew and Mary Margaret (née Kennedy) Sheerin, she was raised in both Brooklyn and the Richmond Hill section of Queens, lived in Maspeth and Flushing, NY; moved to Old Bridge, NJ in 2004, and spent her final years in Freehold, NJ.
She was a parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Old Bridge.
Joan enjoyed playing bingo, going to Atlantic City and playing the penny slots, loved the thrill of lotto scratch offs, and was famous for her "signature ending" on all emails, text messages and facebook posts: love joanie....love mommy.... love nanny.... love aunt joan...!
She was predeceased by her husband, Dennis McGoey Sr., in 2000; her sisters, Margaret "Peggy" Devenish in 2020 and Mary "Sissy" Gracchi in 2003; her brother, Thomas Sheerin in 1999; her sister-in-law Kathleen "Kathy" McGoey in 2014, and her brothers-in-law, Orazio Gracchi in 1996, James McGoey in 2012, Vincent Jacobsen in 2005, and Frank Burke in 2004.
Surviving are her children, Peter McGoey and his wife, Denise, Dennis McGoey and his wife, Kate, Mark McGoey and his wife, Donna, and Joan Valdivia and her husband, John; her twin sister, Jean Venizelos and her husband, Harry; her brothers-in-law, Frank Devenish and Timothy McGoey and his wife Patty; her sisters-in-law Lorraine McGoey and Angela Rottura; and nine grandchildren, Ryan (Brianna), Kyle, Dylan, Tyler, Bryan, Reilly, Marc Jr. (Shelbie), Chris and Caitlyn, and her nieces and nephews, Keith (Wendy), Glenn (Trish), Scott (Marty), Theresa, Debbie (John), Josie, John (Cindy), Luke, Michael (Meagan), Thomas (Gracie), Vincent (Blanche), Tara (John), Theresa, James, Maureen (Robert), Julianna, Timothy (Irina) and Johnny.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 11:00 am, at St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 333 NJ-18, Old Bridge, followed by a repast in the Pastoral Center. Cremation will be private, with interment to be held at a later date.
