Joan Mease, age 88, went home to be with her lord and savior, Jesus, on Sunday August 10th after a short fight with pancreatic cancer.
Joan Bohl was born in her grandparents home in Konantz, Colorado in Baca county on September 1st 1936 to George and Odessa Bohl.
Her life on this earth was spent loving people and she knew how to love well with a love that involved action, sacrifice, and a focus on peoples best interests. Her love was unconditional, patient, kind, and honest.
She showed that love to everyone she met and she was deeply loved in return.
She began caring for others at a very early age when she was six years old when her sister Opal had polio. She was a mother and homemaker as well as foster mother to 29 kids. She worked as a home health care provider and as a foster grandmother rocking babies at R-5 high school. She cared for many sick and dying people over the years, led Bible studies, worked in Bible schools and hosted many events and tea parties for family and friends.
As a girl she loved to ride horses and in high school was voted most likely to ride a horse around the world. She loved to feed people and bake cookies and bread as well as many other tasty treats. She also loved to sew and do arts and crafts of all kinds. She was known for her denim quilts.
Joan Married William Mease on June 12th 1954. In 1957 they packed up their two boys and what they could fit in a station wagon and moved from BACA county to Grand Junction, Colorado. Bill preceded her in death after 54 years of marriage. In 2015 she married Ed Nickerson. He passed on 19 months later.
She is survived by her children: Donald (Kristi) of Collbran, Preston (Sheryl) of
Grand Junction, Willa Jo of Grand Junction and Rocky (Terri) of Kooskia, Idaho. Foster Children: Gwen (Matt) Weiben of Carbondale, Melvin (Amanda) Bateman of Florence, Mississippi
Joe (Ramona) Vega of Artisia, New Mexico, and others.
