Joan Elizabeth Mikulak

Joan Elizabeth Mikulak, born on November 1, 1947, in Peekskill, NY, passed away on November 21, 2025, at home in the arms of her beloved husband, Richard. Joan was the cherished daughter of the late George and Helen Pressick. She graduated from Peekskill High School in 1965 and went on to earn her Bachelor's degree from SUNY Courtland in 1969. Furthering her education, she took additional classes at the University of Kansas.

Joan returned to Peekskill, where she reunited with her high school sweetheart, Richard, and they married in 1975, recently celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. Together, they co-owned Mikulak Cleaner's until they relocated to Delaware in 2001.

Joan was a devoted fan of her sports teams and NASCAR drivers, always cheering for the Kansas Jayhawks in the NCAA tournament and singing their fight song with pride. She cherished the tradition of watching the Kentucky Derby, a love passed down from her father, and shared it with her children, ensuring everyone picked a horse.

She found joy in following her grandchildren's adventures on social media, expressing her love for them beyond words and humorously noting the 'payback' they gave their parents.

Joan is survived by her loving husband, Richard, her son Steve and his wife Cathy, her daughter Stacey and her husband Matthew, and her adored grandchildren Stephen, Andrew, and Kendall. She was predeceased by her parents, George and Helen Pressick.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joan's name to the American Diabetes Association or The American Lung Association

Private services will be held on Friday, November 28th, to honor and celebrate Joan's life.
