Joan Pilvelait Obituary

Joan A. Pilvelait
Joan A. Pilvelait, 83, of Milford, beloved wife of the late Edward Pilvelait, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025. Born on August 12, 1942, in Wyoming, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Regina (Roman) Kazmerczyk.
Joan lived a life defined by generosity. She was the most selfless person many ever knew-generous to a fault, always placing the needs and happiness of others before her own, and doing so without hesitation, complaint, or expectation of recognition. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering compassion touched everyone fortunate enough to know her, leaving a lasting imprint far beyond her family.
Her giving spirit showed in everything she did. Joan volunteered at Milford Hospital, taught classes at the Orange Senior Center, and cherished lunches there with dear friends. A former Assistant Milford City Clerk, she carried her commitment to service into every chapter of her life, believing deeply in showing up for others.
Joan found joy in both life's simple pleasures-bingo, crocheting, reading, and crossword puzzles-and in adventures she loved dearly, especially Disney trips and cruises. Above all else, she treasured time with family and the comfort of togetherness. She especially loved time spent at the "Little White House" in Milford, where she happily helped her daughter and taught at the daycare, finding joy in caring for others in the way she always had.
Joan's passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew her-not only her family, but the countless friends, neighbors, and community members whose lives were brighter because of her. Her legacy of generosity, quiet sacrifice, and unconditional love will continue to live on through them.
Joan is survived by her children, Judith (Robert) Drapp, Tracy (Thomas) Murphy, and Michael (Katherine) Doyle; her grandchildren, Bobby (Michelle Brisart) Drapp, Jr., Edward (Jessica) Drapp, and Brian (Libby), Kevin, and Collin Murphy; her great-grandchildren, Declan, Kinsley, and Remi; and her brother, Joseph Kazmerczyk, with whom she shared many cherished trips to Pennsylvania to visit family. She was predeceased by her sister, Judith Calandrella.
Friends and family may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 12, 2026, at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street, Milford, Connecticut. A memorial service will be celebrated that evening at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
