(nee Fencl), 96, of Brookfield, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025 at the Aurora Zilber Hospice in Wauwatosa. Joan was born on February 11, 1929 in Two Rivers, Wisconsin. She subsequently graduated from Marquette University with a degree in English. While attending Marquette she met the love of her life, Paul Reddin and they were later married on June 20, 1953. Joan had 5 children, Bill, Pat, Tom, John and Bob. During her life she worked as a school teacher, in retail sales and later in life as a volunteer for the Christ Child Society. Her favorite occupation, however, was as a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother to her 5 children, 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Her love, Paul, was taken from her too soon by cancer when they were 72, but with tremendous strength and perseverance she made a life for herself for 24 years, volunteering, traveling, playing cards, and attending her grandchildren's sporting events, recitals, and plays.

Joan is survived by her children, William (Karen) Reddin, Patricia (William)Sommers, Thomas (Karen) Reddin, John (Karen) Reddin, and Robert (Stephanie) Reddin. She is further survived by her grandchildren Michael, Mackenzie, Erin, Katy, Daniel, Mathew, Megan, Joseph, Daniel, Sarah, Catherine, and great grandchildren Etta, Cal, Josie and Nate. She is also further survived by her brother, Douglas (Jane) Fencl. She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert (Margaret) Fencl.

As a former school teacher, Joan was a big believer in the power of education to improve people's lives. As such, in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her name to St. Joseph's of Wauwatosa Catholic School, Marquette University High School, Messmer High School, Marquette University or the Christ Child Society.
