Joan R Shade, age 91, formerly of Hegins, passed away Monday, October 13, 2025 at Providence Place, Pine Grove.
She was born on Monday, October 8, 1934, in Lykens, a daughter of the late Francis Paul and the late Blanche (Lettich) Paul.
Joan was a 1952 graduate of the former Hubley Township High School.
She was a seamstress at the former Philmark Mfg, Valley View.
Joan was a member of Pine Creek United Methodist Church, Spring Glen.
She was also a member of the former Hegins Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the former St Peter's United Methodist Ladies Aid Group.
Joan enjoyed reading, crocheting, cross stitching, puzzles, and spending time with her family
Her husband, Junior B Shade passed away in 1994. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Phyllis Scheib and Dolly Brosius; and four brothers, Francis Paul, Robert Paul, Gerald Paul, and James Paul.
She is survived by two daughters, Judy A (Gary) Heim of Pitman and Nancy A (Ryan) Kahler of Pitman; three granddaughters, Katrina (Joe) Strohecker of Heckscherville, Becky (Phil) Snyder of Dillsburg, and Emily Kahler of Linglestown; a grandson, Adam (fiancée Suzanne Arner) Kahler of Pitman; four great-grandchild, Caitlyn Snyder, Carson Snyder, Colt Strohecker, and Joseph Kahler; a sister, Betty Freeman of Elizabethtown; and several nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Inc, Valley View, with Rev. Benjamin Scholl officiating.
Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Sacramento.
