Margaret "Betty" Elizabeth Shade passed away peacefully at age 92 on March 14, 2025. She was born in Portland, Maine on July 8th, 1932, to the late John and Winifred Lamers. After graduating from Washington Lee High School in Arlington VA in 1951 she attended trade school which led her to her job in Administration at the Pentagon for many years.
Betty was a devoted mother who raised five children in Bowie, MD. While working as the Manager at a uniform clothing store, she met her better half, ED and they later retired together in Berlin, MD.
Even after retirement she kept herself busy working at a local gift shop, "Fronteir Town". Her passion was in line dancing and square dancing. She also enjoyed bowling, grabbing lunch with her friends, traveling, and watching football. In addition to being with her family, morning walks on the boardwalk looking at the beach was her favorite thing to do.
Her absence leaves a void in our lives, but her memory will forever live on in our hearts. We will remember your face always with a smile, your warm hugs, and your unwavering kindness. May you rest in peace. We love you.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 44 years, Edward Shade, her loving son Wayne Burgett, her brothers John and Everett Lamers, and her sister Marion Pronk.
She is survived by her dear children Paul, Linda, Sharon, and Kenny. Daughter in law, Claudia. Cherished grandchildren Steven, Brooke, Blaire, and Allen. Great-grandchildren Jackson, and Olivia.
A funeral service will be held at Noon on April 4th, 2025, at Friendship Church. 10537 Friendship Road, Berlin MD, 21811
Interment will be at the Lakemont Memorial Gardens, 900 W Central Ave, Davidsonville, Maryland.
