Joan Arlene Simmons May 26, 1930 – December 28, 2025
Joan Arlene Simmons, lately of Bala Cynwyd, PA, passed into the light on December 28, 2025 at the age of 95. She was the beloved wife of Charles R. (Dick) Simmons for 54 years. She was born in McMechen, West Virginia, but lived and raised their family in Upper St Clair, PA for most of her life. She was the daughter of Atherton Day and Hester Virginia (nee Barnhouse) Welling. She was predeceased by sister Jacqueline Virginia Roth and brother Alan Craig Welling. She is survived by her sister Marta Lynn Kefauver, her daughters Martha Ann Simmons, Cheryl Lynn Johnson and Laura Lee Simmons.
Joan was happily a grandmother to Randy, Danny, Heather, Erin, Sara and Jamie. Great grandmother to Nathan, Mary, Charles, Aaron, Becks, David, Travis, Chase, Mia, Hudson and Crosby. Great-great grandmother to Ashley Lynn.
She sparkled whenever she met you and she never met a stranger. She helped her husband build a thriving business and was involved in the United Methodist Church, Newcomers club and duplicate bridge. She never missed an opportunity to join in gatherings and celebrations or to be a friend.
