Joan Elaine Sivers

Joan Elaine Sivers was born March 2, 1954 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and died February 2, 2026 in Lincoln, Neb., from complications of liver and kidney disease. She was the daughter of Elaine and John Sivers of Oakland, Iowa. Joan was a graduate of Oakland High School and Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, where she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority and served two terms as the Chapter President. She also played the saxophone in the Concert Band at Simpson College.

Joan was a graduate of the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 1981 and the Prosthodontic Residency Program in 1983. While in Dental School she served as Chapter Advisor to Sigma Chapter of Alpha Chi Omega.

Dr. Sivers spent 37 years in teaching, private practice and administration as Assistant Dean of Clinics at the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry.

Joan was elected as National President of the American Association of Women Dentists, served two terms on the Nebraska Board of Dentistry where she was Chairman of the Board two years, and also served one year as President of Central Regional Dental Testing Service. In addition, she was a member of many dental organizations and a 50 year member of Chapter HD of PEO.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John. She leaves behind her loving husband of 29 years, Jerome Soulliere; and her two beloved dogs, Maggie and Gigi. She also leaves many relatives and close friends.

She will be buried at Oaklawn Cemetery in Oakland, Iowa.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 from 5 to 7 p.m., at Butherus,Maser and Love Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at 10:30 a.m., at St. Mark's United Methodist Church with a luncheon to follow.
