Joan G. Stancati, 89, residing in Hopkins, MN, passed away on June 28, 2024. She was born March 8, 1935, in South Bend, IN, the daughter of Roger and Florence Fenska. She lived in South Bend until April 2023, when she moved to Hopkins, MN.
Joan graduated from Stevens College in Missouri and then worked for the South Bend Tribune. On July 12, 1958, in South Bend, Joan was united in marriage to John F. Stancati. She enjoyed volunteering with the Service Guild and, after raising her three daughters, worked in the County Auditor's office and with St. Joseph County Human Resources until she retired in 2000. She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening and painting, and loved all dogs.
She is survived by her three daughters, Cathryn (David) Rowland of Tulsa, OK; Susan (Gregory) Miller of Fort Wayne, IN; and Nancy (Christian Langheinrich) Stancati of Minneapolis, MN. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Holly, Alexis, Hannah, and Jacob, and one great-grandson, John.
Expressions of sympathy for Mrs. Stancati may be offered to the Humane Society of St Joseph County or Pet Refuge of South Bend.
A service will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Riverview Cemetery, 2300 Portage Ave. South Bend, IN 46616. Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel is assisting the family. Online condolences may be offered at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
